Why study abroad?

In 2012, the Philippines adopted the K to 12 education system, aligning its basic education with international standards.
The system now includes 6 years of elementary school and 6 years of secondary school, for a total of 12 years.

School Types

  • Public Schools: Government-funded and low-cost. Instruction may include local languages, with limited international student enrollment.
  • Private Schools: Tuition-based schools offering stronger academic support and broader use of English.
  • International Schools: Open to foreign students, with all classes conducted in English and internationally aligned curricula.

Academic Calendar

  • Private Schools: School year typically begins in June, with major breaks in April–May.
  • International Schools: Many begin between July and August, with vacations often in June–July.

Admission & Preparation

  • Preparation Period: A minimum of 2–3 months is recommended before enrollment.
  • Students with prior English experience may enroll after 2–3 months of ESL preparation.
  • Beginners may require 3–6 months of ESL study before enrollment.

Transfer & Entry Periods

  • Common entry points are August (first semester) and January (second semester).
  • School start dates and semester structures vary by institution.

Admission requirements differ by school. Applicants should review individual school guidelines and prepare required documents in advance.

  • Students begin by memorizing words and patterns in a structured order—Basic 1, Basic 2, Middle-School Basics, High-School Vocabulary, IELTS Vocabulary, TOEFL Vocabulary, and SAT Vocabulary—reviewing each list 2–3 times to build a strong foundation.
  • Homework involves writing sentences with these words, with teachers providing proofreading and guidance.
  • Daily practice includes copying school textbooks and completing warm-ups, reviews, and homework during 1:1 tutoring sessions, while;
  • Exam periods focus on reviewing all learned material with the teacher. After completing the ESL course, students progress to systematic study of vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking to prepare for IELTS or TOEFL.
  • They also write a weekly essay of at least 30 lines on a TOEFL topic, receiving direct coaching and feedback from the program director.
  • In math, Korean teachers use Korean textbooks through Grade 9, helping students achieve an average GPA of A or higher, ensuring strong academic performance alongside English mastery.
